CULTIVATING ANALYTIC PRESENCE THROUGH MINDFULNESS

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2018

10AM - 5PM

FACULTY: CLAIRE COSTELLO, PHD, RN, PMHCNS-BC

6 Possible Continuing Education Credits Approved for MD, PHD, MFT, LCSW, LPCC, LEP & RN

TUITION: $175/$200 (INCLUDES CEUS)

What might the practices of mindful awareness, compassionate self awareness, loving kindness meditation, mindful breathing, walking meditation and gratitude practice have in common with the analytic attitude and presence? Are there meaningful ways through times of growth, pain, grief, and uncertainty while remaining present to what is emerging with a curious and compassionate presence?

What skills offer a possibility of healing through the suffering within our family, generational, and cultural patterns that affect the present living of our lives? We will establish an understanding of the symmetry between the analytic attitude and the quality of mindfulness in clinical practice, reviewing elements and foundations within both. We will practice mindfulness meditation skills to help us grow both our analytic attitude and our mindfulness practice through present moment awareness. We will discuss how these practices are used within and between the clinical hour for cultivating of our own unique analytic presence and self-healing. We will discuss and practice how to teach mindfulness to our patients as a means to help them develop their own analytic and mindful approach to their inner experience. We will include case presentations to serve as a backdrop to demonstrate the development of analytic presence and mindfulness within the present moment relationship between and within the therapist/analyst and the client.
