Experiential Adventures: Hillman and Soul-Making in a Troubled World
March 14th
9:30am - 5pm
TUITION: $150
At The Institute Only
On its 50th anniversary, we return to Hillman’s Re-Visioning Psychology in a time when we are meeting the collective shadow as fate in dreadful social, political, and environmental consequences. We follow Hillman's four soul-making operations through collage- and mask-making and imaginal play to engage the creativity and wisdom of that which we have othered. The spontaneous creativity of soul returns us to hope, vitality, beauty, and wisdom. As we allow the telos, the guiding daimon, in the soul’s image to speak to and move us, as Hillman wrote, we bring “soul into action and action to soul.”
REBECCA POTTENGER, MFT leads women's retreats premised on creative engagement with Hillman's theory. She brings insight to the application of theory to culture as an editor for academic publications and two Routledge publications: Alchemy, Jung, and Remedios Varo and Uncovering the Act of Maternal Infanticide from a Psychological, Political, and Jungian Perspective.
DENNIS POTTENGER, MFT is a published author, experienced presenter, and award-winning journalist. He authored the book Alchemy, Jung, and Remedios Varo and has several forthcoming books on racism, including a critique of Hillman's "Notes on White Supremacy" that engages Hillman's archetypal theory to examine the problem of white privilege.
