For centuries, Sufi masters have occupied a position similar to that of psychologists, helping their disciples gain the self- consciousness necessary for a realization of the God within. Shahabeddin Yahya Sohravardi, an Iranian Sufi mystic of the 11th century, depicts a spiritual journey that explores the imaginal world as an inner faculty of the psyche. This presentation focuses on the imaginal world of C. G. Jung through his inner journey in The Red Book and Sohrevardi's inner experience in The Red Intellect.
NASRIN BEYRAGHDAR, PhD is a psychotherapist and marriage and family therapist with a background in philosophy, art, and Sufi studies.
