CHILD PSYCHOTHERAPY FROM A JUNGIAN PERSPECTIVE: A CASE CONSULTATION GROUP

This case consultation group is for experienced child clinicians and those in training, who would like to deepen their work with children with a Jungian perspective in their understanding and case formulation. Members are limited to 10. Participants will present case material of their work with children, which the group will discuss from a Jungian lens. Focus will be on transference/counter-transference; symbolism appearing in creative work such as sandplay, drawing, clay, or other expressive modalities, archetypal, and clinical themes. Consultants will offer perspective and will augment with reading or instruction depending on what emerges within the group or case presentation. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
MARIA ELLEN CHIAIA, PhD, MFT, is a child and adult Jungian psychoanalyst member of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. She teaches/consults internationally and has authored many articles and book chapters. The focus of her work revolves around the relational field,  the experience of nonverbal states, the imagination, and finding meaning and spirit in our journey as humans. 

CLAIRE COSTELLO, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, is a licensed psychologist, clinical nurse specialist, and child and adult analyst member  of the C.G. Jung Institute, with a Bay Area private practice for 39 years. Claire is a certified Koru Mindfulness Teacher, teacher in training at Mindfulness Self — Compassion, UCSD, Mindfulness Teacher Training Program, the Greater Good Science UCB.

LAUREN CUNNINGHAM, MSW, is a member of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy and child and adult analyst of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. Also founding editor of the Journal for Sandplay Therapy and Associate Professor at the California Institute  of Integral Studies. She consults with Parent Participation Nursery Schools, S.F., and internationally. Lauren’s analytic practice is in San Francisco, CA.

MARGO LEAHY, MD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and certified Jungian child and adult analyst who studied at Stanford University, the Society of Analytical Psychology in London and the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. She is a past Director of the Child Psychiatry Clinic at Stanford and currently an Associate Professor at UCSF. She teaches widely, supervises trainees and is on the Board of Governors at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. Her private practice is in San Francisco, CA.

AUDREY PUNNETT, PhD, is a licensed psychologist, registered play therapist, supervisor (RPT-S) and teaching member (CST-T) of Sandplay Therapists of America (STA)/International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST), and a past president of STA. Dr. Punnett is a certified child, adolescent and adult analyst graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute, Zurich. Her books include The Orphan: A Journey to Wholeness and Jungian Child Analysis. 

PATRICIA SPEIER, MD, is a child, adolescent and adult analyst member of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco and a clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Speier teaches both locally and nationally on play therapy and the treatment of anxiety and depression in children and adolescents. Other expertise includes creativity and play in adults. She has a private practice in Berkeley and San Francisco, CA.

STEVE ZEMMELMAN, MSW, PhD, is an analyst member of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco and the Interregional Society of Jungian Analysts who is certified to practice as a Jungian psychoanalyst with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Zemmelman is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF and an adjunct professor at Pacifica Graduate Institute. He has a private practice in Berkeley and  San Francisco, CA.
